There is zero shock factor knowing we are in for another long slate of Marvel and DC heroes punching and kicking their way into our wallets. Here’s a quick list of what 2017 has to offer, true believers.

Logan  |  March 3, 2017

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2  |   May 5, 2017

Wonder Woman  |   June 2, 2017

Spider-Man: Homecoming  |   July 7, 2017

Thor: Ragnarok  |  November 3, 2017

Justice League  |   November 17, 2017

Tale of the tape: the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) leads the way with three new chapters and a Spidey alliance with Sony. The X-Men Universe takes another tantalizing fanboy turn with Logan, featuring an aged Wolverine and Hugh Jackman’s last ride as titular badass. The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) continues to expand with Wonder Woman and no doubt hopes to deliver a knock out with the highly-anticipated Justice League.

The MCU seems to print money so I think their slate will land fine. The only question is Justice League. The DCEU has been sparsely great and mostly manic. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad cannot seem to build momentum and are mostly forgettable. DC is putting their biggest hits on the same stage. If they mess this up, DC might as well throw any Aquman movie back in the water and take a hard look at their surprisingly optimistic slate moving forward.
