It looks like Disney suits had a bad feeling about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story after watching a screening. The movie isn’t due out until December, but the Gareth Edwards project will undergo “several weeks worth of additional shooting“, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Reshoots are fairly common with films, especially big budget franchise flicks. The Force Awakens went through reshoots, albeit to a lesser degree.

So what’s the problem?

“This is the closest thing to a prequel ever,” a source tells THR. “This takes place just before A New Hope and leads up to the 10 minutes before that classic film begins. You have to match the tone!” Source

So it doesn’t match the tone. The teaser trailer seem to have a solid Star Wars vibe… or maybe I’m geeking out over AT-AT Walkers.

Who knows what this means for Rogue One. Look, I know jack and shit when it comes to the movie business. The talkies, if you will. What I have read more often than not is when studio suits get overly involved it can lead to a nightmare.

J.J. Abrams is still Executive Producer on the project and I’m sure he’d swoop in like a nerdy Tarzan to save the day if need be.

May the Force be with us.
